What Is Full Spectrum CBD Oil?

If you’re just beginning to look into the benefits of CBD oil and how it could enhance your wellness, you’ve probably come across the term, “full-spectrum CBD oil”. You may also have seen products labelled as “broad spectrum” or “CBD isolate” – and you’re probably wondering how to choose CBD oil when it’s all so confusing!

The type of formula is an important factor to consider when you’re planning to buy CBD oil online. But what is full-spectrum CBD oil and why do companies and users alike advocate it? What are the differences between full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD oil, and CBD isolate?

This article intends to clear up the confusion surrounding the different types of CBD oil and arm you with the information to choose the right formula for your wellbeing needs.

(The Importance of Understanding the Different Terms)

No doubt you are already aware of the growing popularity of cannabidiol (CBD) as a therapeutic supplement. It’s a natural, non-psychoactive compound extracted from the hemp plant that offers a range of benefits for human wellness.

The hemp plant also contains many other cannabinoids which all offer their own benefits. Crucially, CBD delivers the most benefits, as it offers a combination of all the others’ – but that’s not to say it performs best on its own.

Science and medicine have for centuries taken inspiration and ingredients from nature to create products like food supplements. As the CBD industry grows and evolves, the scientific research behind it is continually evolving too.

Researchers are discovering new things about CBD oil with every study and as more CBD products become available, it’s vital that consumers know the differences between the formula types. It’s also important to note that at Cannaba Tree, we only sell full-spectrum CBD oil; the reasons for this will become clear as you delve into this article.

When you see a CBD oil product labelled as “full-spectrum”, it means that the formula contains all the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, not just cannabidiol. These other compounds include cannabinol (CBN), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabichromene (CBC), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) and trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) amongst others.

The latter is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, but since CBD oil UK products contain only low concentrations of THC (less than 0.2%, as per UK law) they won’t get you “high”. THC is in fact, vital to the synergistic way the formula performs and affects how CBD oil works – which we will explore later on.

In basic terms, this is CBD oil that contains all cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids but crucially, doesn’t contain any THC. As you will discover later in this article, THC may spark concern in some misinformed CBD users, but it is vital to the way CBD oil products work.

This is purified CBD that has been extracted from the hemp plant and isolated from the other cannabinoids and compounds. In other words, when you take CBD isolate, you are only accessing one part of the hemp plant’s capabilities and thus limiting the therapeutic benefits your body could experience.

In addition, as science has shown us, certain plants (hemp included) can have a toxic effect on the human body if only single compounds are extracted. Morphine from poppies is one example of this. It is, in fact, the combination of all the plant’s compounds that helps to inhibit its negative aspects.

Now you are more familiar with the terminology, you’re probably wondering, what is the strongest CBD oil? The answer is not so cut-and-dried; it is important to consider which is more effective.

When studies into CBD first began, it was believed that CBD isolate was more potent because it was more concentrated. But in 2015, animal studies at the Lautenberg Centre for General Tumour Immunology in Jerusalem showed that full-spectrum CBD oil offered more therapeutic benefits and better supported human health. It was also found to continually provide those benefits as the dosage was increased – which CBD isolate did not.

It’s worth noting that hemp contains in excess of 400 compounds which all work together synergistically to enhance the therapeutic benefits of cannabidiol. They also naturally counteract the negative aspects of the plant’s compounds. This synergistic performance is known as the ‘Entourage Effect’.

This term, coined by Israeli scientists in 1998, describes the way that the cannabinoids, nutrients and other compounds in hemp work together within the human body.

These scientists had made a breakthrough regarding how CBD oil works, discovering that consuming all the natural compounds found in hemp was far more beneficial than simply taking one or just some.

The “entourage” of phytocannabinoids in the hemp plant is unique; it acts as a key to unlocking the workings of the human body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is vital for our health and wellbeing.

Terpenes also contribute to the entourage effect. They are organic hydrocarbons that generate flavor and aroma in hemp and other natural products like fruit and spices. Studies are ongoing into how they cooperate and influence the ECS, nervous, gastrointestinal, and immune systems.

Furthermore, the hemp plant contains around 20 flavonoids; these are what create the non-green colours in plants and are rich in antioxidants which we already know are good for our body and health.

The aforementioned study does not discredit the wellbeing benefits of broad-spectrum CBD or CBD isolate. They can be beneficial if, for instance, you don’t require the capabilities of full-spectrum CBD oil. They are also useful if you aren’t legally allowed to have any amount of THC in your system whatsoever.

This article is a guide, based on our research and the personal beliefs we have formed after trying many different CBD oil products. When deciding what CBD oil to buy, you will need to fully research the various types and their benefits yourself while taking into account what you need CBD for and what you hope to gain from using it.

At Cannaba Tree, We Believe in the Potent Benefits of Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

We only stock full-spectrum CBD oil so you can boost your wellbeing with the complete range of therapeutic powers that the hemp plant has to offer. After conducting research into CBD and trying out a variety of products ourselves, we also believe that it’s important to use CBD oil made from non-GMO hemp plants. This makes for a purer, better quality oil which is crucial not only for the effects it has on your wellness but also for your safety.

Modern science has over the years been fairly dismissive of the benefits of herbal medicines and food supplements. But the breakthroughs made by leading scientists when conducting studies into how CBD affects the endocannabinoid system have projected this plant compound into the spotlight.

Researchers currently believe that to experience the full effectiveness of hemp compounds, it’s vital to embrace the relationship between all its cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids by using full-spectrum CBD oil. And because we know that science and nature can work in harmony to assist human health and wellness, full-spectrum CBD oil is our preferred choice.
